Government News

Ontario’s recently released provincial budget did not have show any major changes in the government’s support for the environment, and green issues seem to have lost favour in relation to economic concerns. The recently tabled federal government did provide additional funding for environmental programs ($400 million for the continuance of the ecoEnergy program, for instance) but was, of course, defeated by the opposition. For more information on how the political parties plan to support environmental causes, be sure to visit their respective websites to read their election platforms. MP’s are also a great source of information on these topics and can be contacted directly if you have a specific question about their party’s environmental platform. To find your MP’s contact information, look to http://webinfo.parl.gc.ca/MembersOfParliament/MainMPsCompleteList.aspx?TimePeriod=Current&Language=E
